History
As hosts of Euro 1984, France easily advanced from their group with three victories against Denmark, Belgium, and Yugoslavia. Les Bleus narrowly defeated Portugal after a tense extra-time match at the Vélodrome before beating Spain in the final at the Parc des Princes. This was the first title for the French national team, led by the brilliant Michel Platini, who scored 9 goals and was named the tournament's best player.
