History
Olympique de Marseille had a very successful season in Division 1, finishing as runners-up in France behind Bordeaux. The team, managed by Rolland Courbis, also reached the UEFA Cup final, losing to Parma. This season, celebrating the club's centenary, marked OM's return to European competition after several years.
