History
In 1998/99, Deportivo La Coruña had a respectable season in La Liga, finishing in 6th place, which earned them a spot in the UEFA Cup. The team showed signs of improvement under the guidance of Javier Irureta. The following season, Deportivo caused a major upset by winning their first-ever Spanish league title. Led by goals from Roy Makaay and a solid defense, the team dominated La Liga and made history for the club.
