Les Bleus easily dominated the group stage, defeating South Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Denmark, before overcoming tougher challenges: a late golden goal from Laurent Blanc against Paraguay, a dramatic penalty shootout against Italy, and a victory thanks to a memorable brace from Lilian Thuram against Croatia in the semi-final. To cap off this exceptional run, they crushed defending champions Brazil 3-0 in the final thanks to a superb performance from Zinédine Zidane.
