History
FC Nantes, coached by Raynald Denoueix, had a historic year, winning the French championship (their 8th title) with an attractive style of play. The Canaries finished with 68 points, ahead of Lyon and Lille. They also reached the semi-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue and the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France.
