History
For the 2002/03 season, under the management of Paul Le Guen, OL retained their title and became French champions for the second consecutive time. The team finished top of the table with 68 points. In the Champions League, Lyon reached the second round (group stage) but did not qualify for the quarter-finals.
The following season, OL won their third consecutive French league title, finishing with 79 points. In the Champions League, the club had a strong run, reaching the quarter-finals before being eliminated by FC Porto, the eventual winners. In the domestic cups, Lyon were defeated in the semi-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue and in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France.
