History
After a historic treble, the club experienced a year of transition. Under Rafael Benítez until December and then Leonardo, the Nerazzurri won the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana, but finished second in Serie A behind AC Milan. In the Champions League, Inter reached the quarter-finals before being eliminated by Schalke 04. Despite some successes, the team showed signs of fatigue after its exploits of the previous season. Eto'o scored 37 goals in all competitions.
